We are delighted to announce that Dumbarton Curling Club will play at The Waterfront Leisure Centre, Greenock from the 2020/21 season.
Our initial approach to the Waterfront in November 2019 was warmly received by the Rink Management, and the club were invited to the Waterfront, to view the facilities and play a friendly match against Newark Curling Club, which was gratefully accepted by the club committee.
This won't be the first time Dumbarton have utilised The Waterfront for their club matches. Following the closure of the Ice Rink at the Summit Centre, Finnieston in 1998, Dumbarton played the 1998/99 season at The Waterfront before moving to Braehead when it first opened for the 1999/2000 season.
Due to ice availability, we were unable to retain Tuesday evenings as our regular club night. We do, however, now have a set day and time of Wednesday evenings at 8:00pm for all internal club matches, with the first session of the new season scheduled for Wednesday 30 September at 8:00pm.
We have also entered The Waterfront Super-League, and we are looking forward to not only playing in this competition, but also getting the opportunity to play against clubs we normally wouldn't get the chance to meet.
The Club's first priority is always to ensure the safety and well being of our members. As such due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which abruptly curtailed the 2019/20 season, with the 2020/21 season was cancelled, there may be some changes to the normal rules of curling to adhere to the current Government advice and guidelines.
