Dumbarton Curling Club

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Bill Marshall on Monday 13 May 2019 after a long illness.

Bill officially joined Dumbarton Curling Club on 25 August 1981, and had a long and distinguished curling career on and off the ice.billmarshall.png

Some of the highlights of Bill's curling playing career include winning the Dewar Trophy in 1987 along with his wife Corona Marshal, Bill Coutts and Betty Coutts.

With Tony Atkins, Jim Hutton and Bill Coutts, Bill also won the Denis Kyd Quaich in 1993, which as yet is Dumbarton's only success in this competition.

The pinnacle of Bill's playing career came in 1998 when he was selected for the Royal Caledonian Curling Club tour of Switzerland in 1998.

Off the ice, Bill worked tirelessly in promoting not only Dumbarton Curling Club and Dunbartonshire 10th Province; but curling in general, holding a number of offices at Club and Province level.
