jimmacdonaldScottish Curling have named Jim MacDonald as part of their 20-man squad to represent Scotland on the 2027 US Tour to contest the Herries-Maxwell Trophy currently held by the USA.

Jim is only the second member of Dumbarton Curling Club to participate in a trans-atlantic tour, with Bill Coutts competing for the Strathcona Cup during the tour to Canada in 1983.

The tour is scheduled to last just over weeks, arrivining in Minneapolis on 15 January 2027 and leaving from Boston on 8 February 2027, visiting numberous rinks, cities, and states in between.

The tour continues the historic curling rivalry between Scotland and the USA. First contested in 1952, the Herries Maxwell Trophy represents decades of friendship, hospitality and shared passion for the Roaring Game across the Atlantic.

The most recent contest, hosted in Scotland in 2022, saw the United States claim the trophy. In 2027, Scotland will be determined to respond on American ice and bring the trophy home once again.
